DetectMyIp.com ("we", "us", "our") is a free IP address lookup tool operated at detectmyip.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

• Theme preference — your light/dark mode choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and never sent to our servers.

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

• We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

IP Geolocation Data

We use the IP2Location LITE database to determine the approximate geographic location of IP addresses. This data includes country, region, city, timezone, and coordinates. The accuracy of this data depends on the IP2Location database and may not always reflect your exact location.

VPN & Datacenter Detection

We cross-reference IP addresses against publicly available lists of known VPN and datacenter IP ranges to provide connection type information. This is done in real-time and no logs of these checks are stored.

Third-Party Services

Our website loads the following external resources:

• Leaflet.js & OpenStreetMap — for displaying the map. OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy applies to map tile requests.

Data Storage & Security

Our aggregated statistics are stored on our server in a simple JSON file. No individual IP addresses or personally identifiable information are stored. The server is hosted within the United States of America.

Your Rights (GDPR / EEA Users)

Since we do not collect or store personal data that can identify you, most GDPR data subject rights (access, rectification, deletion) do not apply in practice. However, if you believe we hold any data about you, you have the right to:

• Request information about what data we process.
• Request deletion of any data related to you.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information beyond what is described above. California residents have the right to know what data is collected and to request its deletion.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
